Privacy Policy

Venav-e Privacy Policy

Venav-e (registration number 1992/019624/23) (“Venav-e”, “we”, “us”, “our”) is committed to compliance with the Protection of Personal Information Act, No. 4 of 2013 (“POPIA”).

Personal Information

Personal Information means information relating to an identifiable, living, natural person, including financial information, identifying numbers, email addresses, physical addresses, telephone numbers, location information, online identifiers, or any other particular assignment to the person.

Data Subjects

This refers to each director, member, shareholder or partner of a customer who is a natural person.

What We Collect and Why

When you apply for a credit account, place an order, or interact with us (whether as a credit or cash customer), we collect and process Personal Information for the purposes of verifying your identity, assessing creditworthiness, opening and managing your account, processing orders, and providing goods and services.

Your Consent

By completing our customer application form or placing an order, you consent to Venav-e:

  • Performing credit searches on your record (and that of your directors/members) with registered credit bureaus.
  • Recording the existence of your account with any credit bureau.
  • Recording and transmitting details of your account performance to credit bureaus and our credit insurers.
  • Collecting, processing and storing your Personal Information for the opening and ongoing management of your customer account.

You also confirm that you have obtained the necessary consent from your own Data Subjects for this processing and that all Personal Information you supply is accurate, up-to-date and complete.

How We Protect Your Information

We undertake to act in accordance with POPIA, limit processing to the purposes set out above, keep your Personal Information confidential and stored securely, take reasonable steps to identify and guard against risks, and notify you in the event of a security breach.

We will not disclose your Personal Information unless legally or contractually required, or for our legitimate business purposes.

Who We Share Your Information With

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only where it is needed to fulfil your order or to meet a legal obligation:

  • The Courier Guy — to deliver your order. They receive the delivery name, address and contact number.
  • Our order and accounting system — your order, account and invoicing details are recorded in our internal IQ Enterprise system, which is the source of record for pricing, stock and invoicing.
  • Professional advisers and authorities — where we are required to disclose by law.

How Long We Keep It

We keep order, invoice and account records for as long as required by tax and company law, which in South Africa is generally five years from the end of the relevant tax period. Account and contact details are kept while your account is active and for as long afterwards as we may need them to deal with a warranty claim or a dispute.

Cross-Border Transfers

Some of the services we use to run this website — hosting, search and image storage — may process data outside South Africa. Where that happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure your information is protected to a standard comparable to POPIA.

Your Rights

You have the right to access, correct or delete your Personal Information. You may also lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator if you believe your rights have been breached.
